Pyramid Theorem Release New Album, 'Beyond The Exosphere'
PYRAMID THEOREM
—CANADIAN-BASED PROGRESSIVE METAL BAND—
RELEASE MASTERFUL NEW ALBUM
BEYOND THE EXOSPHERE
NASHVILLE, TN (August 21, 2020) — Canadian-based progressive metal band Pyramid Theorem released their new album Beyond The Exosphere. Produced and engineered by Rich Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush, Def Leppard, Dream Theater) the five-song sequence finds all four band members—bassist/vocalist Christian Di Mambro, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Stephan Di Mambro, percussionist Vito De Francesco, and lead guitarist/vocalist Sam Ermellini—attacking their roles with proficient talent.
Founded in the late 2000s, Pyramid Theorem have already established themselves as unquenchably imaginative, determined, and skillful on their first two full-length statements (2012’s eponymous debut and 2017’s Element of Surprise) and prior EPs. As stellar as those records are, however, Beyond The Exosphere, surpasses them in every respect.
Track listing for Beyond The Exosphere:
“Beyond The Exosphere” (17:53)
“Under Control” (4:48)
“Freedom” (4:39)
“Closer To The End” (7:06)
“Intonate” (6:48)
PRAISE FOR PYRAMID THEOREM’S BEYOND THE EXOSPHERE:
“Evokes the menacing fury of Symphony X, but with the melodic wisdom of, say, King’s X and Jolly. It’s [‘Freedom’] a concise yet dense composition brimming with catchy confidence and endlessly engaging instrumentation (such as stately bells and fiery guitarwork). It’s perhaps the most direct and accessible track on Beyond the Exosphere, too, so it’s a great way to get a taste of how ambitious and multifaceted the entire sequence is.”
--Jordan Blum, Metal Injection, June 18, 2020
“Impassioned and memorable songwriting with mind-blowingly sophisticated, diverse, and virtuosic arrangements.”
--BraveWords, July 16, 2020
“It only takes one listen of Beyond The Exosphere and Pyramid Theorem’s previous releases to realize what an outstanding group of musicians these four young men from Toronto are.”
--Christopher Gonda, V13, August 20, 2020
“They take the bold step of opening the album with the epic, nearly 18 minute long title track. It ebbs and flows between quiet ambiance and full-tilt prog, showcasing virtuoso musicianship and an arrangement that does a good job of maintaining interest throughout. . .the other four tracks are more streamlined, with ‘Freedom’ the most mainstream of the bunch, but still pushing boundaries. Pyramid Theorem’s brand of prog draws influences from a myriad of bands ranging from Dream Theater to Rush to Symphony X and melds into their own unique approach.”
