DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ALBUM
AND LIFE JUST GOES ON LIVING
SET FOR AUGUST 13 RELEASE

NASHVILLE, TN (MAY 28, 2021) — North Carolina-based folk-rock artist Ashley Virginia has released her new single, “What’s On The Way.” The song, both equally funky and experimental, is from her forthcoming debut full-length album, And Life Just Goes On Living, that’s set for a Friday, August 13 release.

The new single ties into the album’s overarching theme of mental health. Throughout the 11-track And Life Just Goes On Living, the music takes listeners to the very heart of Virginia’s world. “This album is basically my diary,” notes Virginia. She’s open and honest about being diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Complex-PTSD.

“‘What's on the way is already coming’ is a line that arose from a conversation with two very dear friends of mine,” recalls Virginia. “It is quite literally the advice I needed to hear at a difficult time; to focus on being present and stop worrying so much about time and the future. It can be challenging for me sometimes to stop the rumination, but as I say in the song, ‘all that amounts from worry and doubt is a wall that prevents me from fully ascending’.”

Virginia started songwriting at a young age as a therapeutic practice and a means of escape; turning to songwriting to express emotions not so easily expressed in bare words. “I’m not gonna lie; it's a struggle sometimes,” shares Virginia. “In general I tend to have big feelings and writing music and being creative is therapeutic for me.” An artist that exudes counter culture vibes, marches to the beat of her own drum and is a reckless lover of people, Virginia concludes, “This album, I think, very well encompasses and represents my life over the past few years. It has been my journey of healing through that trauma and pain.”
