LOS ANGELES, CA (June 2, 2022) — Los Angeles-based alternative singer-songwriter Theo Kandel gives us yet another side of his songwriting, taking us to a deeper level with his somber new single, “Me & All My Friends Have Got The Blues,” released today. The song is an extension of the feelings brought to light in his previous single “Existential Crisis;” not knowing how to feel as a twenty-something who’s trying to navigate life.

Unveiling the single, Under The Radar commended that “‘Me & All My Friends Have Got The Blues’ is a decidedly more subdued affair, carried by acoustic finger-picking and gently emotive lyricism…By its end, the track transforms into a gorgeous existential confessional, examining heartbreak, loss, and aging with weary wisdom belied by Kandel’s youthful vocals.”
With a growing fanbase of over 125K followers across his social media platforms and 5M worldwide streams, Theo is on a strong trek of new singles this year, including “Half as Cool,” “STARSIGN,” and “Existential Crisis” — searching to find the answer to What if it all works out in the end? — his third EP slated for release this September (exact details and release date TBA).
What if it all works out in the end? has served as an encouragement to keep going for Theo, with “Existential Crisis” being the kick starter of it all. “I realized I was writing a lot of sad songs and was in a sadder place than I’m in now,” admits Theo. “Moving to LA, having the sun all the time, wanting things to be better and to be happier you can kind of will yourself into that.”
Having recently finished up “The Growing Season Tour” with Wyatt Pike (American Idol, Season 18), Theo has a headlining a show on the horizon at New York City’s iconic Bowery Ballroom on July 7.
Last year, alternative singer-songwriter Theo Kandel set his sights on the West Coast in what he calls the “final frontier” — a journey of artistic influence and inspiration that settled in Los Angeles. Theo’s musical exploration began in New York City, where he established a basis in folk songwriting. It wasn't until he moved to Nashville, TN that he began honing his craft into something a bit more mainstream.
“For a while I hated the idea of my music being labeled as ‘pop,’ but ‘pop’ actually just means accessible, relatable, whatever,” says Theo. “So hopefully, the better my songs are, the more people can find a little bit of their own stories in there.” Having developed his own sound, his songs are sonically complex, layered, and blend a variety of instrumentation that creates a special alchemy; a musical fingerprint that directly identifies Theo.
“It’s funny… my last EP, Spin Cycle, ends up in the same place that it started, with the idea that the cycle of emotions after a breakup is inescapable, as long as you situate yourself within it,” explains Theo. “‘What if it all works out in the end?’ is different…decidedly more positive in its progression. I think that’ll become clearer as I release more songs off the project, but it definitely doesn’t finish where it started, and through the process of making it, neither did I.”
