NASHVILLE, TN (June 24, 2022) — Erupting with a heavy funk guitar riff, the blues rock anthem “Some People” from Los Angeles-based Americana artist David Rosales is out today. Marking the final single of his forthcoming album, REVIVE (slated for release on July 22), “Some People” guides us into a groove that encourages listeners to use negativity and naysayers as fuel to keep grinding for success.

The music video has Rosales and his Band of Scoundrels swaggering out of an LA warehouse freight elevator and onto the scene; leading them into a biting rock’n’roll performance dripping with vibe and a chip on its shoulder. “It’s a no frills performance piece that matches the song’s style and grit,” states Rosales.
“This song is all about empowerment and throwing a middle finger in the face of all the people that want to slag you down,” Rosales tells Blues Rock Review. “It’s a tune that’ll provide some fuel in the morning to get you going with an attitude and swagger fit to take the world by the balls.”
Having unveiled the music video yesterday, Rock and Blues Muse praised: “The track lures you in with Rosales’ whiskey-soaked, resonant vocals as he and his band explode into the dynamic blues/rock anthem with a catchy groove… a solid, funky, mid-tempo cut with a big beat and strong message of perseverance and empowerment,” further detailing that “the video is a crisp-and-clean performance clip that puts each musician involved in a position to shine. Rosales’ vocals are cool and emphatic, packing a sweet combination of presence and resolve that lights up the whole production.”
A blues rocker with Americana roots — Rosales aims to provide a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel with his long-awaited album, REVIVE. “Strange times need good vibes,” he says. “I'm ready to give the world a much-needed dose of positivity.”
Following his acclaimed 2018 debut, Brave Ones, and subsequent tours, Rosales settled into MAPS Studios in Fullerton, CA to record REVIVE in late February of 2020 with his friend, co-producer and touring drummer, Mike Willson. With the addition of a 'Memphis Horns' style brass section to his group of backing musicians, Rosales makes it clear that his sound has grown since the release of Brave Ones.
“I had wanted to keep the album's production within my circle. It had to feel worn in and comfortable,” explains Rosales. “Mike and I had spent countless hours touring on the road and surfing, discussing a sound and a vibe that needed to be captured. I leaned on the rich, soulful influence of Al Green, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke throughout my writing process. I found that it really fits where I am, what I feel this world needs, and how I'm engaging musically with the healing and unity that I want to bring with my music.”With REVIVE's summer release on the horizon, David Rosales & His Band of Scoundrels are currently on the road, offering an uplifting and spirited live performance, that pairs well with contemporaries they have shared the stage with such as Ben Harper, Brandi Carlile, Matt Costa, The White Buffalo, Donavon Frankenreiter, Pokey LaFarge and Steep Canyon Rangers.
