“I think the day we made ‘Closest thing to Closure’ has been one of my favorite sessions to date,” shares Shaylen. “It felt like closing a chapter to the relationship that I’ve been trying to let go of. The energy in the room with Michael Whitworth (Jelly Roll, Lady A, Florida Georgia Line, Teddy Swims) and Lindsay Rimes (Trace Adkins, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, The Band Camino, Kylie Minogue) while writing it felt like the stars aligned. When I left the session I felt like I finally closed the chapter to that part of my life and hopefully anyone going through something similar feels that same sense of closure as well.”

Just after her debut country single “What If I Don’t” broke 10M streams on Spotify, the track was added to Spotify’s “Hot Country” Playlist, one of the platform's most popular playlists with over 7M followers including the top country hits of the week worldwide.

With three acclaimed country singles released to date: “What If I Don’t,” "Roots” and “Do It Right The First Time,” Shaylen has earned her keep in the country scene. “What If I Don’t,” reached over 4M streams across both Apple Music and Spotify, while “Roots” followed close behind reaching over 1M streams across DSPs within the first month of their releases.

Keeping up with popular demand from her loyal fans, Shaylen released her previous single “Do It Right The First Time” — and after teasing it on her TikTok which gained over 725k views — the track caught the likes of Kelly Clarkson who featured Shaylen in her “#What I’m Liking” segment on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show. Within the first week of release, “Do It Right The First Time” reached #34 on the iTunes Country Charts and #113 on the overall iTunes Charts with over 500k streams across DSPs, and was added to several playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.

Born in Chattanooga, TN and raised in Dallas, Shaylen is no stranger to the world of country music. Growing up with the voices of icons from Elvis to Ella Fitzgerald and Willie Nelson to Janis Joplin floating through her home, Shaylen has been influenced by all genres of music from the very beginning. Her roots in the south are where her country and gospel influences came from and are the core of who she is as an artist.

After spending 10 years in Los Angeles, CA as a thriving pop artist with Republic Records, Shaylen found it was her time to come home. Garnering a strong fanbase and tens-of millions of streams from the slew of EPs and singles she released during her time there, Shaylen felt it was time to make the return back to her roots. “I really am thankful for my time in LA because it taught me so many different writing techniques I’ve learned over the years that I’m able to apply in my country music,” admits Shaylen. “I think being able to be submerged in the different cultures of music has been extremely helpful in how I write and sing all together. It’s actually crazy ‘cause switching to country [music] is the first time where I’ve truly felt like my most authentic true self. In fact, it feels far more clear than pop ever did.”

Although she’s made the jump from pop music to country, Shaylen has always used her music as an avenue for working through emotions and experiences in life, while staying true to herself. This upcoming body of work will take listeners on an emotional rollercoaster. “By the end of every song I hope listeners can resonate and apply their own stories to the songs and know that they can get through anything,” says Shaylen. As she settles into her new life in Nashville, Shaylen continues to tap into what feels right as her most genuine artistic self.
