NASHVILLE, TN (June 7, 2023) — Boundary-pushing Americana group, Nefesh Mountain, release their performance video of their rendition of The Allman Brothers Southern rock song “Revival,” today.  Filmed at Analog at Hutton Hotel in Nashville, the video showcases their ability to transform the original rock song into a bluegrass Americana jam, which Grateful Web exclusively revealed yesterday.

The eclectic group is led by husband-and-wife duo Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg, who have long been making their mark on the Americana world with a masterful hand as songwriters, instrumentalists and composers alike. In addition, the troubadours are among the first to openly share their heritage and culture as Jewish Americans in an Americana / roots setting, and as outliers spreading their  messages of peace, diversity, oneness and love to audiences worldwide. These sentiments have in turn inspired their cover of The Allman Brothers classic song, “Revival,” originally released on February 1 of this year. The song marks the beginning of an exciting turn of the dial by the band from their beginnings to the evolution of where they are today. A well-known song with very identifiable riffs, kicks, and tones, “Revival” is a song that you recognize when you hear it.

“We live in a world with so much blatant antisemitism and racism, but despite this hate we wanted to pick up thematically where our last album left off,” says lead singer Doni Zasloff, “singing nonetheless from a place of love, forward motion, and hope. ‘Revival’ is a Southern Rock classic Allman Brothers tune that we've always loved and responded to with radical LOVE and how music can bring us together. The line that spoke to us the most was ‘We’re in a revolution, don’t you know we’re right. When everyone is singing, there will be no one left to fight.’

For Doni and Eric, identifying as Jewish Americans represents less of a religious stance and more of an outward openness to the world, grounded by values of kindness, reparation of the broken world, being in touch with nature, finding a greater meaning, and striving to deconstruct the borders that define and confine us every day.

Gearing up to deliver a project centered around these ideas, the band’s forthcoming seven-track EP, Revival: The East Nashville Sessions, is slated for a September 2023 release (details TBA). An ode to some of the group’s most personal and meaningful tunes, the record is a curated list of covers, with two original songs, each reflecting a piece of the values they live by.

Nefesh Mountain has already been making their mark within the media, having previously been called: “a powerhouse unit” by Rolling Stone, “arguably some of the best bluegrass ever made” by American Songwriter, “infectious, exuberant, and infused with pure melodic prowess,” by Bluegrass Today, and “crisp, clear, and magical” by No Depression

They have recorded and shared the stage with Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bryan Sutton, Tony Trischka, David Grier, Mike Gordon (Phish), Mark Schatz, John Doyle, and Mike McGoldrick, among others.

With a wide armed embrace to all walks of life and a moving ambition to bring people together, Nefesh Mountain promotes fellowship and encourages the celebration of life and all its people. “We are all way more similar than we think, and share more in common as well. Somehow we’ve gotten to a place where we’ve been taught how to see our differences rather than our similarities, and to dwell in our grievances with one another rather than our achievements,” they conclude.
