NASHVILLE, TN (September 29, 2023) — Today, beloved Nashville-based country duo The Dryes release their highly anticipated five-track EP, Raisin’ Beers & Hallelujahs. With the project's lead single "Sawdust" debuting on CMT, this collection of songs solidifies The Dryes as a seasoned, leading duo in the country music landscape.

Showcasing keen, quick-witted lyrics and a polished classic country sound, the project is compiled of life mottos that tell us who Katelyn and Derek Drye are and how they seek to live their lives. “Personally for us, we’ve lived these songs and found new meaning together in how we live our life, which ended up translating into this motto, ‘Raisin’ Beers & Hallelujahs,’” they share.

In honor of the project’s focus track “Take Me Out” — described by The Dryes as “a call to get out in the sticks, away from the noise, to center yourself in the dirt — the couple share their tips on what they do to wind down, disconnect & re-center themselves in this busy world in new Q&A (below).

Q&A WITH THE DRYES:

Q: “Take Me Out” is all about disconnecting and re-centering yourself, often times out in nature. What is your favorite thing to do out in nature and do you have a favorite spot to do it?

Katelyn: I don't get to do it often but I love to fish actually, North Carolina is where we are from and there are so many beautiful spots. We have a spot we have been to with our family when we visit home, a friend's property. I actually love a cigar with it too. Believe it or not while fishing, they pair well ;)

Derek: Since I'm the cook in the house, I'm always grilling on my charcoal grill and building bonfires for whoever is over at the house. Sometimes it's just Kate and I! She likes cigars by the fire too, so it seems there's a theme there! This is all at our home in Whites Creek, where we get centered. And by centered, I mean usually one of us falls asleep waiting on PostMates/Taco Bell and finds it on the porch the next morning, haha!

Q: Some folks take a liking to a drink at the end of a hard week,  to take the edge off and relax. What’s your go-to drink in that situation?

Katelyn: An Old Fashion is definitely my go to!

Derek: I make a couple riffs on an Old Fashioned, or I'll do bourbon neat with a cigar. Something about the combo between the smoke and high-proof bourbon that evens out, I can't explain it. Pro tip...just keep some Flonase and Claritin D for the next day and you can still sing pretty :)

Q: What is another ideal situation that you seek to find solace, calm the nervous system and re-center yourself?

Katelyn: There are some really beautiful back roads where we live currently in Whites Creek, TN about 15 minutes from downtown Nashville. There is nothing like going for a drive with the windows down and our favorite song cranked. Bells Bend is a spot we love to drive to.

Derek: Yeah she's right, it honestly feels so removed out here, and we're literally just outside of Nashville. Once you get into Joelton, some of the open fields remind me of Kentucky, and Tennessee skies are definitely a thing. A friend who's a therapist always tells us to put ourselves in places of "extreme beauty," like the beach, mountains, backroad, a friend's barn. Usually that does the trick.
