NASHVILLE, TN (April 18, 2025) — With her latest single, “Your Parents Don’t Like Me,” out today, Lola Kinsey breathes new life into the spirit of female-driven classic rock rebellion. The track dives headfirst into the timeless drama of young love versus disapproving parents, channeling raw emotion through powerhouse vocals, ripping guitars, and a hook that refuses to be ignored.

Lola shares, “When you’re young, you don’t always consider the bonds beyond your own relationship. This song, while rebellious, is also a reminder that love isn’t just about two people — it’s about making it work with the family too.”

Alongside the single release, Lola unveiled the track’s official music video — a twisted fairy tale told in reverse. Based on a true story, it turns the classic “bad boy, good girl” trope on its head. “We always think of a girl coming home with a bad boy, but what happens when a good boy comes home with a bad girl?” she explains. Set on the Texas countryside backroads, Lola stands at the edge of a wide-open field like a contradiction in motion. “This visual of me against a contrast that doesn’t make sense really appealed to me, Lola shares. “I like thinking of myself as less of a flower and more of a disaster.”

Leaning into the satire, she dresses her metalhead boyfriend in full-on country cliché — cowboy hat, boots, and all. “It was a lot of fun,” she laughs, as the visuals teeter between parody and personal confession, blurring the line in the most entertaining way.

At just 19, Lola Kinsey made her debut official showcase at this year’s SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST (SXSW) on Thursday, March 13. Emerging as a fresh voice in music, Lola blends the timeless energy of classic rock with a modern pop edge. Her hometown of Wylie, TX is the kind of place you dream of leaving but never truly want to, and Lola’s journey into music has been shaped by both her personal experiences and her desire to carve out something bigger.

Her sophomore single, “Hold It Against Me,” (released February 21, 2025), a fiery alt-pop anthem laced with classic rock swagger, channels the raw energy of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Get Him Back!” while nodding to the timeless power of Olivia Newton-John and Linda Ronstadt. With sultry vocals dripping in attitude, Lola spins a tale of romantic chaos, echoing the playful defiance of “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” from Grease, as gritty electric guitars snarl beneath her teasing, razor-sharp lyrics. Her debut single, “Pack It Up” (released December 7, 2024), resonates as a coming-of-age anthem, reflecting her small-town roots and big-city dreams. The track, co-written with her mom, represents Lola’s desire to leave home and start fresh, something she felt deeply at 17. She brings to life the moments that every teenager has grappled with, sprinkled in with her own unique story. Stream “Pack It Up” here.

Writing has always been central to Lola’s music. “I’m way more of a songwriter than a musician,” she admits. She often writes lyrics first, recording ideas on voice notes or in journals, then collaborates with her producers: Joe Phillips (The Barney Show) and Mike Manning (Demi Lovato). Her dad — a drummer who toured with Toby Keith — also plays on her tracks. This fusion of personal history and artistic development is central to Lola’s music and reflects the authenticity she strives for in every song.

A lifelong performer, Lola discovered her passion for music through high school choir and theater, finding solace in songwriting. After trying sports and acting, she realized music was her true calling. “It went from a hobby in the shower and car to something I started to dream about doing long-term,” she recalls. “Once I found my voice, I didn’t want to pursue anything else.”

Lola’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Raised by her supportive non-biological father — whom she’s called “Dad” since she was three — Lola faced a life-altering moment as a teenager when she met her biological father and four siblings for the first time. Discovering a shared musical connection with some of her siblings brought moments of light to an otherwise complex and emotional chapter of her life.

Beyond uncovering family challenges, she endured the aftermath of a traumatic chemical burn, which exposed her to online bullying. Lola has also lived with Tourette syndrome, though her symptoms have significantly eased over time. As a child, navigating Tourette’s alongside ADHD and OCD was challenging, but like many with the condition, she doesn’t tick while singing — making music her sanctuary. Now, as her symptoms have eased with time, her resilience and connection to music shine even brighter, allowing her to share her authentic self with audiences. Rather than allowing these experiences to define her, Lola has used them as fuel to become stronger. “Your biggest enemy is yourself, so don’t let yourself down,” she advises. “You are your motivation and you are your support.”

Performing in smaller, intimate venues around the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Lola has had the chance to connect with fans in meaningful ways. There’s a special joy in performing for people who may not have come specifically to see her, but find themselves drawn in by her music. “I don’t care about hardcore fame,” Lola concludes. “I just care that I reach out to those who are going through the same things.” Her focus remains on the music, the message, and the connection she builds with her fans. For Lola Kinsey, this is just the beginning.
